Pei Song Chee is a Professor in the School of Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, at Sunway University, Malaysia. His research focuses on self-powered sensors and actuators, wearable electronics and wireless power technologies. He investigates how sensing systems can become less dependent on batteries while remaining practical for healthcare and wearable applications. He received his B.Eng. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2010 and 2014, respectively. Before joining Sunway, he served as Professor and Deputy Dean for R&D and Postgraduate Programmes at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). From 2022 to 2025, he chaired the UTAR Centre for Healthcare Science and Technology, which received the university’s Best Research Centre Award in 2022. 

Prof. Chee has published more than 60 ISI-indexed journal articles, with over 90% appearing in Q1 and Q2 journals. His work includes a top-accessed article in IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation in 2022 and a featured article in the IEEE Sensors Journal in 2020. As principal investigator, he has secured more than 11 research grants and over RM2.13 million in external funding, including support from NanoMalaysia, CREST and FRGS. His intellectual property portfolio includes seven national patent applications and one international patent. Developing young researchers is an important part of his academic work. He has mentored two postdoctoral fellows and supervised 17 research master’s students and 12 doctoral students, with 12 master’s and six doctoral students completing their programmes. His contributions have been recognised through the UTAR Research Excellence Award in 2019, Teaching Excellence Award in 2020 and Innovation Award in 2024. 

Prof. Chee serves as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Sensors Journal and an Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports and Scientific Review. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom, a Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology, and an IEEE Senior Member. He also contributes to engineering education as an Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Panel Evaluator.
