Pei-Song Chee is an Associate Professor at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia, currently serving as the Chairperson of the UTAR Research Center - Center of Healthcare Science and Technology (CHST). He earned his B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. Dr. Chee has held various leadership roles in the national and international scientific community, including serving as the Chairperson for the IEEE Council on RFID - Malaysia Chapter from 2021 to 2023, and he was elected as a member of the Young Scientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) for the term October 2023 – December 2026. Additionally, he evaluates for the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) at the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He holds professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PEng) from BEM, Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the Institution of Engineering and Technology, IET, Associate Fellow in ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology, and IEEE Senior Member. Dr. Chee's primary scientific contribution lies in advancing sensor and actuator technology with self-powered mechanisms. He has authored over 50 publications, including journal articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters, published in high-impact journals such as Lab on a Chip, npj Flexible Electronics, among others, along with holding seven patents. As the Principal Investigator for eight research grants from NanoMalaysia, CREST, Industry Grant, FRGS, etc., totaling RM 1.4 Million, he has supervised more than 20 postgraduate students. Dr. Chee has been honored with several awards, including the UTAR Teaching Excellence Award 2020, UTAR Research Excellence Award 2019, UTAR Best Research Center Award 2022, and UTAR e-Learning Excellence Award 2023. His work on advanced sensors has garnered recognition, including the Publication Excellence Award by IEEE EMBS in 2023, Best Oral Presentation, and Young Scientist Award 2022 by IEEE ICET. Furthermore, he actively contributes to scientific publications and has been commended as an outstanding reviewer for journals like Smart Materials and Structures in 2019 and Materials Research Express in 2018.
