20 October 2024 - Graphene-coated strain sensors offer strong potential for wearable devices. However, they encounter a significant challenge when exposed to changing temperatures and humidity, making it hard to determine if a sensor's response is due to strain or environmental fluctuations.
We successfully formulated a new recipe using waterborne polyurethane (WPU) as the primary solvent and encapsulating agent. This approach keeps the sensor’s output stable, with changes remaining below 1% even with temperature and humidity variations. Find the exciting work at https://lnkd.in/g9FsgHZx

17 May 2024 - The Gold Medal team was led by Centre for Healthcare Science and Technology Chairperson Assoc Prof Ir Dr Chee Pei Song. As Malaysia gradually transitions to an ageing population, many older individuals require extensive care at home, particularly with healthcare devices to continuously monitor their physiological signals, such as temperature, heart activity, and blood pressure. Among these healthcare devices, heart activity monitoring devices are the most crucial, given that heart attacks are the leading silent killer in Malaysia. Traditional heart monitoring devices, such as Holter monitors, require multiple wire connections to connect ECG electrodes, making them inconvenient for daily use.
